Lone Rider
As the sun climbs high in the morning sky a lone rider makes his way.
He’s thinking of all the good times that have passed
And wondering what’s coming up today.
He finds himself a cold mountain stream and sits down to nap in the sun.
He rests for a while, he wears a big smile
And thinks of all the fine things he’s done.

He is a loner, and he doesn’t need anyone
He’s moving along slowly, got no need to run
Just taking it easy, he rolls down the line.
No plans for tomorrow, just living one day at a time.

But what does he hide way down deep inside,
He knows that he’s all alone.
With no destination and no port of call
And no place that he can call home.
There’s no place that he can call home
Well, there once was a lady who was fairer than most. Her eyes were as deep as the sea.
With hair as golden as the rays of the sun. And she was as lonely as he
So he said “Give me your hand and we’ll travel the land and we’ll sail across every sea.”
But she said “I need a husband, a home and some kids, so you’ll have to go along without me”
Well, at this he replied “I guess it’s time for me to ride.” With a tip of the hat he rode away
She silently prayed as she stood there alone that she would see him again someday
